Our Story
Our Journey: From New York's Streets to Parisian Elegance
Every great story starts with a question, and for Owen&Savary, that question was simple: "Why design a cuff?"
The answer traces back to the late 90s when I was living in the heart of New York City. Amidst the hustle and bustle, I became captivated by the idea of a bracelet that was bold, chunky, and yet wrapped around my wrist with a perfect fit. However, as I scoured boutiques and markets, I quickly realized that my ideal cuff didn't exist. The bracelets I found were either too loose, cumbersome to fasten, or just not quite right. It was then that the seed of Owen&Savary was planted, though it would take several years to bloom.
Fast forward to a new chapter in South Africa, where I had settled with my family. With more time on my hands and the persistent itch to create something uniquely mine, I decided to take the leap. Partnering with a friend, I embarked on an ambitious journey to design the perfect cuff bracelet—one that would meet my exacting standards and, hopefully, those of others who shared my frustration.
Our journey wasn't without its challenges. It took us a full year to bring our vision to life. We traveled far and wide to find the most skilled craftsmen, sourced the highest quality materials, and spent countless hours perfecting the design. The clasp, in particular, became our obsession. We wanted a design that was not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional—something that could be fastened with ease, without needing an extra pair of hands. We returned to the drawing board numerous times, driven by our pursuit of perfection.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, we held in our hands the first Owen&Savary cuff. It was everything I had envisioned: refined, timeless, and, most importantly, uniquely customizable. We wanted our customers to experience the same satisfaction I felt when I first clasped that bracelet around my wrist.
Today, I have made Paris my home—a city synonymous with luxury, fashion and craftsmanship. It’s the perfect place to collaborate with French manufacturers who share our passion for quality and attention to detail. Yet, the wanderlust that first inspired me remains. The years I spent abroad, especially in South Africa, continue to influence my designs. Every Owen&Savary piece carries a bit of that global journey, offering not just a product, but a story.
