OUR STORY

The question I am most often asked is: “Why did you decide to design a cuff?”

Well, it all started back in the late 90’s when I was working in New York. I got obsessed with big chunky bracelets and was desperately looking for one that could wrap around my wrist and fit perfectly. I never found one. There was always something not quite right: it was either too loose or too complicated to fasten. I think, subconsciously, I knew one day that I would just have to design my own.

But it wasn’t until quite a few years later that my wish came true.  By then I’d had my children, I was living in South Africa and had more time on my hands. So I decided to embark on the adventure with a friend (who left the company in 2012 for personal reasons) and design my ideal cuff bracelet.

It took a year to get it just right, from seeking out the most skilled craftsmen to choosing the highest quality materials. We spent an especially long time on the design of the clasp. We were aiming for perfection. Craftsmanship and detail in the finishing touches were as important as versatility and ease of use. Frankly, I find there is nothing more annoying than a piece of jewelry which is impossible to fasten without asking someone to help!

My ambition is to offer refined and timeless bracelets that my customers will also find unique. And the best way to do that is to let them choose their own model, leather and clasp finish.  Our orders are mostly bespoke and our talented craftsmen work on each bracelet and handbag individually, carrying out many of the steps by hand.

I’ve now settled down in Paris, which makes it a lot easier to work with my French manufacturers.  Travelling will always be in my blood, though, and my main source of inspiration. I cherish all the years I spent abroad.
